The Southern Weights and Measures Association (SWMA) is a corporation organized as a not for profit business league under section 501(c) (6) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are proud to be comprised of the following member states/territory: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, US Virgin Islands, Virginia and West Virginia.

Tare at Check Stand: For packaged or bagged items like fresh produce or bulk coffee that are weighed at the check stand, compare the displayed weight on the scale to the net weight on the sales receipt. The weight on the receipt should be slightly less if the system properly deducted the weight of the packaging material. Contact your local Weights and Measures Authority with questions or concerns.
